About LinkedIn Mad Libs

LinkedIn Mad Libs is a small satirical toy that pokes fun at one of the internet's most recognizable writing genres: the LinkedIn "thought leadership" post. You know the one: the humble brag disguised as wisdom, the "I recently had the opportunity to..." reflection, the founder announcement with three exclamation points and a shoutout to nine investors.

We built a set of fill-in-the-blank templates modeled on the real rhetorical patterns that show up in these posts over and over: the inspirational rule-of-three, the humble-brag congratulations, the funding-announcement mission statement, the "iceberg" breakdown, the federal-contractor buzzword salad. Pick a template, type a few words, and the generator assembles a post in the exact cadence of the genre it's parodying.

Why we made this

Anyone who spends time on LinkedIn has scrolled past a dozen of these posts in a single sitting and thought, "I could write this in my sleep." This site turns that observation into a two-minute joke you can share with coworkers, or use as a icebreaker about how strange professional social media writing has become. It's satire, not a productivity tool, so nobody should copy-paste the output into an actual post without at least reading it twice.

Who's behind it

LinkedIn Mad Libs is a side project built and maintained by NinjaMonkey LLC. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to LinkedIn Corporation or Microsoft in any way. "LinkedIn" is used here purely in reference to the well-known social network and its posting conventions, for commentary and parody purposes.
